Physicist, entrepreneur, storyteller
I've now made this poem the prelude to the vampire cycle, setting up for the sonnet series beginning with 'The First Deadly Sin'.The series tells the complete story of the vampire and his victim in fifteen sonnets and a prelude, covering the seven deadly sins. The ebook is available at this link - "Sonata Vampirica" - for the Amazon Kindle, and Kindle on iOS and for Android (you'll need the free Kindle reader available from the App Store or Google's Android Play Store). If you get it, and like it, please leave a comment on the Amazon page! Thank you!
There is an old saying"Blood is thicker than water and so is chicken soup"Sorry Semaphore could not resist this.Bad Bad Rall!
Quite a prelude, Sam. The market door is standing open. These poems have legs as well as fangs. Love it.Finally got a sonnet done, sorry not in time for the article but linked today.
ha i think it a good prelude to the other pieces...and nice foreshadowing of what is to come in them...without giving too much away...smiles.
Yes, this really fits well with the other two segments I've read.It is alarming while being narcotic, something similar to the feel I imagine one might get from a vampiric kiss--this one just a promise on the cheek before the fuller one on the throat.
Sweetly chilling and def makes me want to read more. =)
Oooo, sets the stage very well.
Even without the vampire connections it has a strong impact. I love mulling over the images and meanings flowing through this. Thank you for the visit.
An interesting prelude it is ~ I love it ~
To my mind, two of my favorite things, my favorite modern poet of intellect and my favorite genre, vampires. I am very, very interested in this, Sam.
Great lines! :)And thank you for visiting my page.
Yes, a very good prelude, Sam. For me, the undercurrent here is, of course, about family. Don't know if your book runs along those lines. K.
It does indeed sound like an appropriate prelude to your vampire series! (by the way, do you have any other books?)
Thanks for asking! "Sonnets from the Labrador" is a collection published by MiPOesias in 2010, and still available. I'm hoping to see it re-issued as a Kindle ebook. Others are forthcoming very soon. The rest of my published work are in other anthologies, journals, and here on this blog.
At first I didn't understand this, until i read what i think was the poem before this one and it made a whole lot of sense. I'm looking for to more vampiric poems.
Oh yes - the hook is set ... the lure is in the lines ... I look forward to the rest with indecent anticipationhttp://leapinelephants.blogspot.ca/2012/05/no-more-than-bird-with-piercing-voice.html
I do wonder what a kiss will bring... I look forward to finding out.
Well, you lured me in now, I want to have a bit more to see where it all goes.
vampire verse-- yikes! v.cool start.
I've never been into the whole vampire thing, but this... wow. You have such a strong voice, Samuel.
Great prelude, Sam. Also not into Vampires, but your poetry intrigues me and I think it's multi-layered. Have fun with this.
Quite a romantic prelude to a vampire's kiss. Enjoyed this. Nice.
I really look forward to this cycle of poems on the vampire theme. You've given us tantalizing bits to chew on and savor!
