Spell

Day’s eye,
bellis perennis,

your own name
conjures a splendid

incantation.
With each white

floret petal-plucked
from a fragile stem,

divine for me thus:
She loves me.

She loves me not.

She loves me.

She loves me not.
She loves me.

  4. Deceptively deep poem in few well-placed words; harkening back to Chaucer as well as the flower's latinate roots. So glad the poem does not end in a denial. Excellent craftsmanship.

  8. She ...
is just the beginning of the story

  9. It is the power of a woman to make the heart query so...an engaging look into what exactly's stirring in the mind with every glance. Romanticism with the touch of worry...it is divine, it is uplifting, and the possibility of love shines true...but for it all, the question remains...does she love?

  10. The petals plucked
    The core laid waste
    On spindly stem
    Undulata
    The wages of haste
