River's Edge

Fallen to the river
and the river's edge,
swayed, half-overturned,
your embattled leaves swirl
like wounded crafts, caught
between sudden gusts of wind
and the current's wash.

There on the waters, sunlight
casts the gnarled meridian
of your empty branches.

  1. Such beautiful imagery, I can almost see the River's Edge from my desk. Only wish I could teleport from one to the other.
